League Hosts Candidate Forum Ahead of August Primary

August 18, 2018

On Tuesday, July 31, 2018 the LWV-OZ sponsored a candidate forum for Wisconsin Assembly District 23 at the Range Line School/Rec Center in Mequon. The four candidates on the ballot for District 23 were invited: William Demet (D), Andy Lamb (D), Liz Sumner (D) and Jim Ott (R-incumbent). Candidates Andy Lamb and Liz Sumner participated in the forum, responding to written questions from the audience.  Sixty people were in attendance.

Louise Mollinger of Voter Services coordinated the event and several other League members volunteered: Barb Hunt opened the forum, followed by Kit Keller as moderator; Barb Hunt was timekeeper; Beth Bauer, Barbara Willenson and Barbara Johnson collected questions from the audience; Patty Kubala, Janie Miller and Ellen MacFarlane collated the questions; Karl Hertz arranged for the use of the Conference Room at Range Line School; Donna Fowler and David Franks helped with room set-up; Carol Hertz, Karl Hertz and Muriel McLemore were greeters. Thanks to all League members who helped make this forum a success.

A special thanks to Dan Folkman, who volunteered to livestream the forum on the LWV-OZ Facebook page. This was a first for our local league and it is something we are interested in doing for future forums.
