On National Voter Registration Day, September 25, our league conducted a Voter Registration Assistance Event at MATC Mequon. Our volunteers were ready to help from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. During that time, we were able to help close to thirty voters.
An event like this requires time and hard work by all those who volunteered either as greeters or as computer-assisted resources.
The greeters worked in the hallway outside the cafeteria providing a warm welcome and encouraging people to stop by and check for voter information or registration. Their help brought in the majority of our applicants to our array of computer-lined tables.
The volunteers with their computers had attended training and studied the registration procedures through online resources. They were able to assist registering new voters, to check on registrations, to assist in change of address and to answer other questions.
Our dedicated volunteers are list below. Our thanks go out to them for their time and talents to make this event a success.
Greeters: Barbara Hunt, Vonna Pitel, Carol and Karl Hertz, Jenny Levin, Maureen Wiskirchen, Holly Ryan, and Ginny Chaverina.
Computer assistants: Barbara Johnson, Jean Bromley, Nancy Haacke Dorothy Boyer, Louise Mollinger, Carol Von Ott, Libbey Brennan, Marge Palleon, and Mary Fran Lepeska.
Our next Voter Registration Assistance Event is at the Grafton Public Library on October 9.
