First LWV Coffee of 2019

January 23, 2019

Barb Hunt hosted the first LWV coffee for 2019 on Tuesday, January 22.  Guest speaker David Liners, Executive Director of WISDOM, presented information about Wisconsin’s criminal justice system, specifically crimeless revocation.  David explained crimeless revocation as when a  person  on probation or parole can be sent back to prison for merely breaking a rule, having committed no new crime. The informal discussion included guest Ouida, who has been directly affected by these rules and the incredible discretionary power of her parole officer to send her back to prison. Fourteen League members attended and many questions were asked and suggestions were made for including this issue on the Planning Meeting agenda.
