The League of Women Voters-Ozaukee County was one of thousands of groups across the country that participated in National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) on September 24, 2019. On NVRD our League conducted voter registration assistance at MATC-Mequon for the fourth year in a row.
This event provides information and services to voters. In addition to helping students register to vote, we checked the registration status of several students and answered many questions about registering online and about the voting process itself. We gave out approximately 50 “myvote.wi.gov” cards so people could register online on their own.
Volunteers attended training before the event and were provided various reference materials and tools on site. Our volunteers worked in two shifts from 10:30-1:30. Greeters in the hallway and cafeteria directed students to volunteers with tablets and laptops who helped with the registration process and provided information about voting.
This year’s greeters were Delores Bogenrief, Erica Turner, Susan Waldo, Joyce Harms, Kathy Westphal and Rita Bakalars.
Helping to register were Amy Otis-Wilborn, Ellie Anderson, Pat Goeden, Katie Egan-Bruhy, Dorothy Boyer, Marcella Brown, and Stacy Tolomeo. Barbara Johnson and Donna Fowler set up the stations and coordinated the day’s activities.
Many thanks to all who participated and helped make this event a success.
